Huddersfield

Huddersfield itself is on the western edge of the West Riding of Yorkshire, nestled on the edge of the Pennines and is within a 30 mile radius of major cities such as Leeds, Manchester, Bradford and Sheffield.
As well as providing the perfect environment for mountain biking, walking and other outdoor pursuits, the surrounding areas of Huddersfield also boast some great attractions. Yorkshire Sculpture Park is one of Europe’s leading open-air art organisations showing modern and contemporary work by leading UK and international artists.
The Galpharm Stadium is also located in Huddersfield. As well as hosting sports matches, events and concerts, the complex also has a cinema, retail park and other popular leisure outlets.
Known as Bronte Country, the area has long been associated with the famous Brontes, novelists Charlotte, Emily and Anne, from 1820 - 61. Lovingly preserved, the Bronte Parsonage Museum in Haworth is a principal tourist attraction which receives hundreds of visitors every year. Then of course, there’s Holmfirth, home to the long running TV series, Last of the Summer Wine!
Sheffield
Sheffield was voted the "World’s Cleanest Industrial City." The city boasts a glaciated, green countryside that includes the popular Peak District National Park. As the fourth largest city in Britain, its major industry continues to be steel production, and in particular cutlery. To appreciate the history of this "European Steel Capital," visit the Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet museum.
If you fancy yourself as a bit of a party animal then our location is ideal, situated no more then a 5 minute walk is the brand new Carling Academy, which has live bands such as The Kooks and The Automatic and club nights such as Hed Kandi and Transmission.
As you are within touching distance of the city centre all local amenities, restaurants, bars and High Street shops are a 10 minute walk as are all transport links such as the train, bus and tram s tations.
A short Supertram ride from the centre is Meadowhall, one of Europe’s biggest shopping malls with more than 270 stores. The City Centre complements Meadowhall perfectly, with its high-street stores and independent designer shops. If you are after something specialist or quirky try shopping on Eccleshill Road or Divison Street and then relax in the near by Botanical gardens or cool off by running through the fountain in the Peace Gardens.
For those of you that fancy a trip more further afield, then The Pinnacles is located within walking distance of the train station, which links to all major destinations like Manchester and London.
Art and culture has played a big part in Sheffield’s regeneration and this is evident as soon as you set foot into the city. There is numerous theatres, galleries and modern art located around the city such as the brand new digital campus site which is to be located opposite the train station and is to be at the forefront of modern architecture.
Lincoln
Lincoln’s a great city to live in, mixing over 2000 years of history with a lively social scene. With the Pavilions located just next to the University of Lincoln’s main campus, and minutes from the City Centre, Morrison’s supermarket, and The Engine Shed, you’ll be in the perfect location to get your weekly food shopping and have enough time to get to university even if you only roll out of bed five-minutes before your lecture. There are many adventures to be had in the city, from climbing the infamous Steep Hill, up to the Cathedral, to hitting the many shops, bars and clubs Lincoln has to offer.
Lincoln may not be the party capital of the UK, but rest assured it has more than enough bars, pubs and clubs to keep the student population happy. The new Student Union bar, ’The Engine Shed’, is located just five minutes from the Pavilions, next to the University Library, and is the largest live music venue in Lincoln, with a 1750 capacity. Also highly recommended is Vodka Revolution on the High Street – great for cocktails, all types of vodka and 2-4-1 food deals.
Living at the Pavilions you’ll find most places are within easy walking distance. However, there is a bus service from the City centre to a number of destinations within the area. For those of you that fancy a day in Nottingham or Leeds, or simply want to pop home for a visit, there are daily train and coach services running from the City centre.
